Description:

Teaching computer science in early grades develops critical computational thinking skills in young learners. Computational thinking skills contribute to development of habits of mind and success in mathematics and science.

We understand the needs of elementary teachers are unique. K-5 teachers combine content standards across all the core disciplines. There are competing initiatives that elementary schools and educators are responsible for implementing. Where is the time to bring in computer science standards and computational thinking skills?

Who: K-5 grade educators and leaders including superintendents, principals, instructional coaches, and lead teachers

Overview: During this one-hour webinar, Ohio STEM Learning Network experts will share:
  • how to turn the obstacles into opportunities to strengthen student achievement through integration of computational thinking and computer science skills with core disciplines
  • how partnerships between the Ohio STEM Learning Network and both the Putnam County ESC and Central Ohio ESC help expand access to computer science in K-5 schools, and
  • how Ohio’s Teach CS Grants provide funds to ensure your teachers and students can benefit too!
