Educating students for leadership, citizenship and careers in a 21st century context necessitates preparing them to be globally competent. Global competence, sometimes called “global fluency,” means having the knowledge, skills and mindset to thrive in our global society.
The Network’s founding member districts determined that the best way to bring global competence to students was through a learning pathway, or credential, that would facilitate and validate a student’s mastery of global competence. The Global Scholars Diploma™is designed to achieve this vision.
The Columbus Council on World Affairs (CCWA) champions The Global Scholars Diploma™(GSD) program through innovative approaches, community partnerships, and collaborating business leaders.
In addition to championing the The Global Scholars Diploma™, the Council on World Affairs and the ESC of Central Ohio convene the GlobalEd Network. The Network advances the following goals:
- Convene the region’s brightest leaders and effective educators
- Identify and share best practices and resources in global education
- Recognize and honor world class educators
