Reaching Independence through Support and Education (RISE) is a supportive educational program that delivers comprehensive support to students as part of their district's continuum of services. This unique classroom model is designed to offer a positive, enriching and safe environment for students who benefit from highly individualized instruction in areas such as academics, social/emotional, communication, and motor and adaptive behavior.
With a maximum class size of eight, RISE is staffed to offer a low student-to-teacher ratio, in addition to direct nursing services for students with identified medical needs. While high quality classroom instruction, aligned with Ohio Learning Standards, is delivered daily, RISE students also have frequent opportunities to expand their learning and apply skills on community outings intended to reinforce classroom-based learning and enhance student independence.
The designated team members working with each student will develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals designed to support student growth. Students participating in the RISE program are supported by a team of highly qualified and licensed/certified ESC professionals, including an intervention specialist and paraprofessionals. In collaboration with program partners, students also receive individualized support from related service providers and nurses, as determined by their IEP team.
