The Ohio Resident Educator (RE) Program is a structured, two-year initiative that supports beginning teachers through mentoring and professional development as they launch their careers. To complete the program, educators must successfully engage in two years of locally determined mentoring activities and pass the Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA), making them eligible for professional licensure. Designed to strengthen teacher retention, enhance instructional quality, and improve student outcomes, the RE Program provides a strong foundation for early-career educators.
The ESC of Central Ohio provides the following services to support Resident Educators in Central Ohio:
Certified Mentors | Our mentors are state-certified and provide high-quality instructional mentoring to Resident Educators during the mentoring years of residency.
RESA Facilitators | We offer trained facilitators who can support Resident Educators during their performance year(s) of residency.
Program Coordinators | Our Program Coordinator can manage the program registration, monitor eligibility, and report program completion to the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce.
Resident Educator Mentor Academy | We offer state-approved training, both in-person and virtual, to certify new Resident Educator (RE) Mentors. Completion of this training is required for all new RE mentors.
