Pathways to Success for SIFE and Newcomer Students | June 5 & 6
Join us for this dynamic event focused on supporting newcomers and their families. Explore instructional strategies, culturally responsive practices, advocacy, outreach, and other wrap-around services with our expert speakers. Engage in discussions on community connections, legal requirements, and immigrant experiences to create inclusive, equitable learning environments.

Gifted

Summer Gifted Institute | June 4
In this workshop, educators will explore recent (and surprising!) research into the social and emotional aspects of giftedness and its implications for designing effective services for advanced learners. Educators will gain practical strategies to cultivate psychosocial skills within rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum. Participants will be guided to identify strategic opportunities for developing psycho-social skills associated with academic and career success and personal fulfillment within district MTSS frameworks and a comprehensive continuum of gifted services. 

Special Guest: Eric Calvert, Associate Director, Center for Talent Development, Northwestern University

This professional development will count as gifted professional development hours for those who are working toward or maintaining a gifted certification. Lunch will be provided.

Instructional Technology

LETS GO-OH Summer Symposium | June 4
LETSGO-OH created the Summer Symposium in 2019 to bring together educators and district staff using Apple devices in K-12 school districts. Designed for teachers, instructional and technology coaches, and technical support staff, the symposium provides an opportunity for attendees to engage in hands-on learning, collaborate, and network with other Apple users. Attendees will leave the event with proven strategies for integrating Apple-based technology in instruction. Register here.

Literacy

An Introduction to the Orton-Gillingham Approach (Multi-Day Course) | June 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 18, 20
*This Training is for Client Districts Only**
The Orton-Gillingham approach is a structured, systematic, multi-sensory, and diagnostic-prescriptive approach for teaching language skills (including reading, spelling, and handwriting) to students with dyslexia. This 7-day course will prepare educators to implement high-quality reading instruction that aligns with reading science successfully. Course topics will include the characteristics and needs of students with dyslexia, the critical structures of English that must be addressed by instruction, and the design, implementation, and evaluation of effective individual lesson plans. This 60-hour introductory course will introduce participants to the basics of the Orton-Gillingham approach. Completing this course and a supervised practicum (to be contracted individually with instructors, cost not included) prepares participants for the associate level of the Orton-Gillingham Academy application process for certification. ASHLAND CREDIT (Optional): 4-semester hours of Ashland Credit is available to purchase. (2 semester hours each week at $498 each week). **THERE IS A 2-WEEK WINDOW IN CASE OF CANCELLATION. The ESC is proud to offer an engaging, hands-on training program designed to empower professionals in supporting students with autism spectrum disorders. This immersive workshop is packed with practical strategies and tools to elevate your expertise and enhance your impact.

Skills to design and manage classrooms effectively, including work systems, visual supports, and student schedules. Proven strategies to maximize the effectiveness of classroom staff. Specialized On-Site Support

Introduction to Restorative Practices | June 12
The Restorative Practices session will provide the participants with practical approaches designed to increase adult/student relationships, connection, safety, and opportunities for success and learning.
This framework and active practice will include an overview of Restorative Practices and alignment to school/classroom universal expectations using intentional and explicit practice. Additional areas to be covered will include:
   • The Restorative Practices Continuum
   • The Social Discipline Window,
   • Introduction to Restorative Circles
   • The organizational shift from the "To” and "For” to the "With.”
Teams are encouraged to attend the all-day session as an introduction to the framework. Opportunities for more targeted coaching and support will be offered as follow-up and collaboration with the ESC- Specialized -on-Site Support Team (SOS Team. Register here

Tutoring

High Impact Tutoring Professional Learning Series | June 16 & 17
This compact two-day virtual series is designed to help district leaders evaluate and/or design their own tutoring programs. Participants will gain a strong understanding of the research behind high-impact tutoring, analyze a case study, and reflect on their instructional supports. Participants will receive a High Impact Planning Workbook, a Tutor Playbook, support for resource management, communication support, and much more! Following this series, district leaders will be able to: 1.) Articulate their High Impact tutoring approach through key decisions grounded in research-based design principles and how students will benefit 2.) Determine the data source(s) to identify and group eligible students 3.) Hire and initially train tutors using aligned, high quality instructional materials (HQIM) and develop a plan for ongoing tutor support 4.) Ensure all sites understand the purpose of tutoring, how teachers and tutors work together, and how to support tutoring 5.) Workforce Readiness

Careers2Classrooms Educator Workforce Bootcamp | June 2-5 & 13
Participants will bring careers back to their classrooms by touring local businesses and industries.  Educators gain insight into the vast number of local careers available to students upon graduation as well as the skills needed for each occupational sector. It provides a unique opportunity for professional development and networking with local businesses and aims to identify and connect students to high-paying, high-demand careers local to the Columbus region. Bridging the New Generation Gaps: Preparing Gen Z and Gen Alpha for Today's Workforce | June 11
Participants in this engaging, interactive session will learn what makes each generation (Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Y) unique and how the new generation gaps are impacting Gen Z and Gen Alpha in the workplace. Participants will receive practical tips to help their Gen Z and Gen Alpha students to bridge the new generation gaps in communication, technology usage, workplace expectations, and in other areas so that they can become effective team members in a multi-generational workforce.
